US News Report #3: Trick or Treat? Never without my pumpkin

According to the New York Times article "Trick or Treat? For many Britons, the Reply is Neither", a recent survey in England found that 58% of homeowners said they had hidden in their darkened houses on Halloween...
And one participant wrote on Mumsnet, a popular mother's Website, that she has "thought about removing the cover from (her) doorbell so they (the trick-or-treaters, so basically... the kids) electrocute themselves" ...

No kids rang at our door tonight. Yet we have prepared sweets and were quite prepared to be trick-or-treated. They must think in the neighbourhood that we are Britons - is it our accents? once, a waitress asked us if we need vinegar on our fries.

By the way: it's free to suscribe on the NYTimes.com, and they don't annoy you with ads all the time after that.
